At the clinic, we have a 2 person Far Infrared Sauna, although most people tend to use it alone.
Sessions last about an hour and can be very beneficial for a variety of health concerns or complaints.
Sessions are $15.00 each or 10/$100.00 (if paid in full up front)
You will want to bring your own towel (or towels), and water bottle. There is a music player in the sauna, as well as a light for reading.
Appointments require advance notice so that the machine can be warmed up before your arrival.
If you are not currently a client of Dr. McDonald's, we ask that you get a release from your current PCP stating that you have no known contraindicated conditions to use the machine.
The sauna is great as an addition to any detox or weight loss program, helps with pain and inflammation, can help with skin conditions and arthritis or just give you a nice hour of relaxation.

Below is some general information taken from the manufacturer's information:
Using infrared heat technology to burn calories, and are clinically shown to dramatically aid weight loss. In a 2009 study, infrared saunas were shown to help lower weight and waist circumference in just a three-month period. And for those who led a sedentary life due to medical conditions such as osteoarthritis, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, the weight loss results were even more profound.¹
Studies show infrared sauna weight loss works!
In another study, infrared sauna weight loss sessions were shown to burn up to 600 calories. During a sauna weight loss session, core temperatures increase. The body has to work hard to cool itself, causing a healthy sweat. Using an infrared sauna increases heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, burning more calories, leading to more weight loss. And blood flow rises, increasing from 5-7 quarts up to 13 quarts a minute.²
Plus, regular use of a sauna may provide many of the same benefits as regular exercise, such as cardiovascular conditioning.
Corina is a busy mom, homeschool teacher and marathon runner (!), so she uses her sauna as a way to relax and get some “me time”. But that’s not the main reason she researched and purchased her Sunlighten sauna, just an added bonus. Corina has psoriasis and after trying every over-the-counter medication and numerous therapies including laser therapy, she decided to try infrared sauna therapy. She tells us that NOTHING works like her sauna. When she uses it an hour a day, she sees no flakes and has no pain in her hands. As a runner, Corina appreciates the infrared sauna for muscle recovery. She stretches in the sauna, which, according to her, forces her to take the time to really stretch and definitely helps her recovery.
